Our Journey
Company Timeline
Follow our growth from Ed's early career to becoming a leader in commercial general trades.
Ed's Beginning
Ed McLeod's passion for general trades first began when he was hired by First Florida Development, a custom home building company in Stuart, Florida. This position allowed Ed to hone his skills, learn excellence, and commit to high quality in construction. He also enrolled in the Indian River Community College carpentry apprentice program.
Moving to Gainesville
Following his time at First Florida Development, Ed moved to the city of Gainesville. He was soon hired as a carpenter by Shands Hospital, a role through which he engaged in all phases of commercial carpentry and the general trades. This opportunity taught Ed how to work in a controlled environment with the highest quality and safety standards.
Turnkey Established
Ed founded Turnkey, the predecessor to McLeod General Trades, bringing his years of experience and commitment to excellence to his own venture.
McLeod General Trades Founded
Turnkey became McLeod General Trades and added Divisions 6, 8, and 10 general trades services, expanding the company's capabilities to serve commercial construction clients throughout Florida.
Division 10 Distributors Established
Division 10 Distributors was established as a distributorship of commercial accessories that complements McLeod General Trades projects. Ed added partners that allowed him to position both D10 and MGT to sustainably grow and expand into new market areas.
The MGT Way Launched
The MGT Way was launched companywide from the leadership plugging into the Traction model adopting EOS. The leadership team was officially assembled with a renewed focus on the company's core values and vision, creating a streamlined structure that combines large company strengths with small company agility.
